The City Lives

the_city_livesBiography
TCL formed in early 2007 when guitarist Josh McClesky and frontman Chase Kerby began playing together after Chase returned home from a few months of living in Nashville and standing in with the band Meg and Dia while on tour with Sugarcult. From there, the full lineup was quickly assembled with old friends. TCL got to work quickly, self-releasing an acoustic EP and a full-length debut American Kids, as well as scoring a management deal with newly formed Pavement Nomads Artist Management all within the band’s first year.

The second year as a band is shaping up to be another big one, announcing in July a record deal with Doghouse Records subsidiary Edmond Records (The Upwelling, Screeching Weasel, Riverdales), owned by Mike Kennerty and Tyson Ritter of The All-American Rejects. In the winter of 2008, TCL was blessed with an opening spot on the 6-week, coast to coast “Gives You Hell Tour” with The All-American Rejects and Jet Lag Gemini.

With influences including Jeff Buckley, U2, Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World (to name a few) and a surprisingly energetic live show, the listener gets the best of both worlds. Music with feeling and substance combined with enough energy to keep you watching. There is something for everyone inside the music of The City Lives.
